Scout Report: Robinho Barbosa

Columbus Crew pulled off one of the most eye-catching moves of the Winter transfer window in MLS with the signing of Ceara midfielder Robinho Barbosa on a season-long loan.

THE HISTORY

Robinho Barbosa linked up with the Ceara academy at the age of nine and progressed to make his professional debut in a Brazilian Serie A match in 2014.
He made 5 appearances in his maiden campaign for the Brazilian side, he failed to score a goal or make an assist for his teammates.
Loan moves to Confianca, Novo Hamburgo, Cuiaba and Santa Cruz, all in the Brazilian League System were to follow. While out on loan with Confianca and Santa Cruz would be Robinho Barbosa's most prolific times.

THE PROSPECTS

While the signing of Barbosa represents a coup for a club of the stature of Columbus, the midfielder’s underwhelming attacking returns during his albeit brief career means that he has much to prove in Fantasy terms.
The Brazil international is expected to be handed a kindly price tag of 5.0 in MLS Fantasy (FMLS).
Last season, Columbus predominately used a 4-3-3, 4-2-3-1 or 3-5-2 formation so, it will be interesting to see how Robinho Barbosa can fit into Columbus' formation when they take the field in March.
Robinho Barbosa will be part of a midfield line-up in Columbus which includes Artur, Federico Higuain , Justin Meram and Will Trapp, so he will have work to do to gain a starting spot for Columbus Crew.
It remains to be seen from an MLS Fantasy point of view, what price the right winger / midfielder comes in at once the game updates sometime in February.
Our advice with Robinho Barbosa would be to watch and wait with Robinho Barbosa.
